BOOK REVIEW
DIARY OF A GENTLEMAN DIABOLIST by Robin Spriggs (San Francisco; 2010, Anomalous Books ) pb,ISBN 13; 978-0-963-4296-7-5 ISBN; 10; 0-9634296-7-1 $12.95.
This is a terrific collection of prose poems about a genial diabolist. I visualize Vincent Price as the diabolist. The problem for me is this. Spriggs calls her work prose poems but they seem just as well to call them flash or micro fiction. I have said this before and I am going to say it again.
What is the difference between flash fiction and prose poetry ? None that I can see.
Still this is an excellent collection that is well worth the price. Below is an example of this outstanding collection.
' Bringing It Back'
"I'm glad we met," said the mage to the dog that had died a year ago to the day but whose ghost-unfailingly loyal-had remained with him nonetheless.
Throw the ball, thought the dog. Throw the ball. Throw the ball. and I'll bring it back.

A QUANDRY
There is a semi-prozine, SAVAGE KICK LITERARY MAGAZINE that is a paying market for all kinds of genre action fiction.I have no knowledge if it is also a market for poetry or if it is not a market for poetry. However its website is so dark and incomprehensible that I cannot find a contact email address. Does anyone have an email contact for this zine. If so please send it to me at sgreen@grolen.com .so I can contact the magazine.
IT IS OFFICIALLY HERE
My new blog, www.examiner.com/poetry-in-manchester/scott.green is officially up and running with its first post.
BOOK REVIEW
DWARF STARS 2010 ed. by Joshua Gage (2010, no city listed,SCIENCE FICTION POETRY aSSOCISTION) $7.00, AVAILABLE AT aMAZON.COM .
Every year the Science fiction Poetry Association conducts the DWARF STARS Awards for the best short sf/f/h poem of ten lines or less. The purpose of the contest is to showcase ultra short poems , a length that often gets overlooked outside of Asian poetry circles. The poems nominated are terrific and this year's nominees are no exception. I do have some personal issues with the purpose and running of the contest but that is insider stuff.
Below are three of the outstanding poems in the collection.
'Night Phenomenon' by Marge Simon
Night is feeling sexy
a fogbow inher hair
untitled poem by Noel Slobode
tattered flesh
dropping off
the wolf within
'Alien Invasion' by Peter Payack
These words
are now
inside your head
Buy and enjoy.
