ANALOG ENTERS THE 21ST CENTURY

ANALOG, perhaps the most important science fiction magazine in the world along with one of its mystery stablemates ELLERY QUEEN'S MYSTERY MAGAZINE , shall now accept email submissions.   A third magazine in its stable, ASIMOV'S SF, already accepts email submissions.  True neither ANALOG or ELLERY QUEEN'S are major markets for poetry but anything that makes it easier to submit work is welcome.  The fourth magazine in that group, ALFRED HITCHCOCK MYSTERY MAGAZINE still does not accept email submissions.

SUPERNATURAL/GHOST MARKET CLOSED

WHISPERING SPIRITS a semi-annual webxine that focuses on ghost stories and a market for poetry and flash fiction is closed and is probably going to open up under a new name.

NEW FANTASY MARKET

HEROIC FANTASY QUARTERLY ( http://www.heroicfantasyquarterly.com/ ) is now a market for poetry and flash fiction.

FOREIGN SF/FANTASY MARKET NOTE

The new Dutch sf/f magazine PURE FANTASY is alas not yet  a market for poetry either in Dutch or English.

FUN 4 KIDZ is way overstocked on poetry and it only took them 4 months to tell me.

A REQUEST AND A LITTLE BAD NEWS

Now the bad news.  As some of you may know already Borders Bookstores is closing and that means hundreds of sites that sell magazines which are themselves paying markets for poetry.  I am sure that poetry  markets are going to close down because of this or are they ?  Folks please comment.

BTW I am getting disgusted with LOCUS , the trade magazine of the sf/f/h community.  In their recent annual year in the review issue they did not have an esay devoted to poetry and in fact they  have never covered poetry.  Further in their section on the year in sf/f/h magazines there was no mention at all about the numerous titles of Sam's Dot.

BTW you have heard reports that the magazine run by Orphra Winfrey's empire is looking for poetry and does not plan to pay for it.  I have not reported this becausenone of the reports have included a confirmation from her own corporate offices that her magaz ine  Now there is no payment rate found in her magazine's submission and guidelines online site.  However I have found that many paying markets do not mention payment rates ib their submission guidelines section.  So I am holding off on further comment on this matter until there is confirmation that the magazine is definitely not going to pay for poetry.
