CONCERNING TONY ANGELO

I have no hard evidence but the Tony Angelo that I wrote about in the last post may be young car racing hero Tony Angelo.

I AM SUSPICIOUS

I have been trying to reach the editor of a general arts magazine, REALM OF NUANCE but no matter what I do my emails get blovked. I think that there is something odd about this venture since it seems spun off from aa web page devoted to teaching people how to do ezines.  The editor of the magazine is a Tony Angelo.  Does any one know this fEllow's background ?  Please post.

A BUFFET OF MARKET TIDBITS

First let me say that CHUPACABRA MAGAZINE is not a paying market.

Secondly I found a useful df/h market news site called DARK MARKETS (http;//darkmarkets.com) .There are two new paying markets, TREMBLES HORROR MAGAZINE (http://www.trembles.com/ ) and EVERYDAY WEIRDNESS (http://everydayweirdness.com/ ) a daily ezine that does mostly flash fiction but also some poems.  A market has been revived ,STANLEY THE ELEPHANT (http://www.stanleytheelephant.org/ ) and a market is open again, STORIES FOR CHILDREN MAGAZINE ( http://storiesforchildrenmagazine.org/ ).

On the other hand three zines are now closed to submissions, JABBERWOCKY ,MEANJIN and SMORIES.COM .

A CRYPTID MAGAZINE

There is a new horror magazine being launched today called CHUPACABRA.  Its face book page does not have a provision for sending messages or putting stuff on the wall.  They are mentioned  on a web site called BLOODY DISGUSTING.  Does anyone have a handle on them.  Also the Black Library which publishes all the War Hammer books is planning an ezine though the release I read about it does not actually say that the zine is going to be a War Hammer zine but I queried them to see if they are a market for either poetry or flash fiction.  No rresponse yet.  BTW if you think that there are any additioNal portals that I should put on the site, email me at sgreen@grolen.com.

EXCITING NEWS

First a market note.  ICARUS (http://www.lethepressbooks.com/ ) is a print/PDF?POD zsf/f zine that is open to poetry and flash fiction.

The second is that I signed contracts with Speaking Volumes for pod and electronic editions of my poetry collection, PRIVATE WORLDS A REVISED ATLAS.  It is no longer in Abbott EPublishing's catalogue.

CALL FOR COMMENTS

I just came from a web site called Lebrary (http://lebrary.com/ ) .  Apparently it acts as a portal for self published ebooks by new writers.  If anyone has either positive or negative experience with it please post.  Also I am getting annoyed with market info blogs that are no longer maintain but continue to float through the shipping lanes of the internet.  So if anyone runs across a web site on sf/f/h markets or poetry or flash fiction markets please let me know and post it here.

A SOMEWHAT MORE USEFUL SITE

I am not a fan or even a token supporter of self publishing.  However it is a still legetimate strategy but I ont normally cover it in this blog.  So this ia the one exception .  At the web site http://www.writerscircle.com/.  It has a board within its forum that is devoted to self publishing and its issues.  Its worth a look as I said before if you contemplate self publishing.

A NOT VERY USEFUL SITE

http://www.poetrymagazines.or.uk/ could be auseful site.  I is a long annotated directory of British literary magazine.  However most if not all are equivalent to our stste poetry societis and as far as I can tell are non-paying markets

IT HASN'T RISEN FROM THE TOMB YET.

tThe proposed revival of DREAMS OF DECADENCE hasn't come about yet so I would refrain from submitting to it until further notice or someone out there has a scoop on its fate.

The new podzine BLUE DREAMS submission guidelines does not say they buy poetry but they also do not say that they dont buy poetry. WOW A TRIPLE NEGATIVE.  So I have queried them and when I know you shall know.
