VENTING

Is it just me or do other poets get really aggravated when an editor of an anthology or periodical tell you they dont buy poetry because they dont know what is good.  I always say to them that 'buy what you like and dont buy what you dislike'.  Perhaps that is not helpful.  Anyway I want your comments on why editors seem reluctant to buy poetry.

  1. Yes, that irritates me. I'm also irritated when people say they don't edit poetry because "it's all subjective." No, it's not. If they don't like poetry, fine. But usually it's some combination of they don't know what they're doing and they've been giving misimpressions of poetry by bad teachers.

So I wrote "How to Edit Poetry" as a resource for editors, in hopes of encouraging more people to do it right.
