REVIEW

THE OXFORD BOOK OF PARODIES ed. by Jon Gross (NY; 2010; Oxford University Press ) ISBN 978-0-19-954882-8, $29.95, hb

The book is a big collection of literary parodies including many of major and not so  major poems  It is a very useful resource on how to do parodies, showing by example.  I particularly enjoyed the very first poem in the collection ,a parody of Old Saxon verse.

Old-Saxon Fragment

Syng a song of Saxons
In the Wapentake of Rye
Four and twenty eaoldormen
Too eaold to die...

Well worth the price
